- PublicationOn the challenges of empowering citizens in technological innovation matters(2018-10)
; ; In order to counteract a constant global warming, the empowerment of civil society and economy are considered necessary prerequisites for the energy transition. Responsive forms of participation have to be considered in an early phase of projects and employed continuously throughout the intention. However, there are common challenges within participation processes. We illustrate a use case consisting of the implementation of technological innovations using a slow bottom-up approach. Our main thesis suggests that an active interference of social space leads to higher technology acceptance and therefore to an easier implementation of innovative technologies to increase the citizens’ quality of life. Due to the fact that our target group shows high diversity we focus on specific mediators that influence technology acceptance. Therefore, we conducted a mixed-method approach with quantitative and qualitative components. ; The inclusion and empowerment of civil society and economy are considered necessary prerequisites for the energy transition that has to be achieved. This contribution shows the process of participation approaches in general as well as a use case within the scope of smart grids in particular. The objective of this use case was to determine the users’ willingness to participate in the respective project. A participation workshop was conducted using qualitative and quantitative methods. Results show that since the participants were informed about the system solution for the first time, concern about cost and security were corollary. We conclude that the workshop served rather as instrument to inform and enlighten private end-users providing a baseline to compare results of further investigations. The forthcoming challenge is to ensure an ongoing participation process to raise acceptance and willingness to participate.562 254 - Publication
154 303 - PublicationDie Wahrnehmung von Forschung, Technologie und Innovation in der burgenländischen BevölkerungInnovation, Forschung und Entwicklung gelten als wesentliche Wachstumsmotoren für burgenländische Unternehmen, um einerseits den Wirtschaftsstandort Burgenland attraktiver zu machen und andererseits international wettbewerbsfähig zu bleiben. Bewusstsein für Forschung, Technologie und Innovation (FTI) zu schaffen stellt einen strategischen Schwerpunkt der im Burgenland vorliegenden „FTI-Strategie 2025“ dar. Inwieweit die Bevölkerung das Burgenland aktuell mit FTI assoziiert, zeigt gegenständliche Untersuchung. 400 Burgenländerinnen und Burgenländer wurden dahingehend befragt. Neben einer Analyse der in der Bevölkerung wahrgenommenen Verbreitung von FTI nach soziodemografischen Indikatoren wurde auch die Wahrnehmung von FTI nach den drei Fokusbereichen „Nachhaltige Energie“, „Nachhaltige Lebensqualität“ und „Intelligente Prozesse, Technologien und Produkte“ untersucht.
509 213 - PublicationPreferences on Home Energy Management Systems - A Study of Potentials for the Use of End User Flexibilities(2020-09)
; ; ; ; Due to the increase of volatile renewable energy resources, additional flexibility in the electricity system is necessary to ensure a technically and economically efficient network operation. To tap flexibilities like private storages, participatory developed and user-friendly technical solutions are essential. In this work, the acceptance and the market potential of a home energy management system with focus on i) grid optimization, ii) self-consumption optimization, and iii) additional functions for increased comfort is presented. This is determined by means of a representative survey. The main results show that the perceived usefulness and accessibility are the most important influence factors affecting the end user’s intention to use. Based on the given acceptance, the solution provides a market potential of one third of the users for an increased use of flexibilities in the investigated area.717 562 - PublicationHerausforderung Partizipation - Konsultation im EnergiesektorEuropaweit werden im Energiebereich immer häufiger relevante Stakeholder zur Projektpartizipation herangezogen. Der gegenständliche Beitrag zeigt Erkenntnisse über die Vorbereitung und Durchführung von Partizipationsmaßnahmen im Allgemeinen sowie der damit verbundenen methodischen Herangehensweisen im Speziellen auf. Anhand von drei Projekten im Energiebereich werden die durchgeführten Partizipationsmaßnahmen mit den Stakeholdern Bevölkerung, Industrie und Politik analysiert. Die Ergebnisse zeigen einerseits den Nutzen von persönlichen Netzwerken bei der Herausforderung der Akquise von TeilnehmerInnen, die Relevanz von Marketing und Projektbewerbung, aber auch den Wissenszuwachs aller Beteiligten an der Teilhabe an Partizipationsprozessen.

; ; ; ; ; ; ; Millendorfer, MonikaRenewable energy systems are a key enabler for a successful transition of our current energy systems. However, in every transition process numerous different interests and requirements, often diverging or opposed to each other, must be considered. “Open Innovation” approaches overcome this divergency and increase one’s own innovation potential by involving all relevant actors along the value chain. This work presents approaches, experiences, challenges, and results of Open Innovation processes applied to stakeholder groups in three different use cases. In these use cases, multi-stage, iterative processes for stakeholder integration are applied. The results of the first use case stages show a high degree of diversity in terms of different stakeholder treatment. These conflicts are tackled by the Open Innovation process, proving that a fruitful collaborative business model development is feasible.767 535 - PublicationFrauen im Burgenland. ; ; ; ; „Frauen im Burgenland. Bericht 2014“ ist eine Aktualisierung des letzten Frauenberichts aus dem Jahr 2011. Aufbauend auf diese umfangreiche Arbeit von Judith Jakowitsch und der Burgenländischen Forschungsgesellschaft wurden die Daten im vorliegenden Bericht auf den Letztstand gebracht. Die Referenzwerte aus 2010/11 wurden als Vergleich herangezogen. Die Aufteilung der Kapitel sowie die inhaltliche Konzeption blieben zum Großteil erhalten, einzelne Kapitel wurden gekürzt bzw. ergänzt. Das Thema Migration wird als Querschnittsmaterie behandelt und fließt in die einzelnen Kapitel ein. Eine Erweiterung erfolgt durch das Kapitel „genderATlas“. In diesem gleichnamigen Projekt der Technischen Universität Wien, der Universität Wien und der ÖIRProjekthaus GmbH werden mittels virtueller Aufbereitung geschlechtsspezifische Daten und Informationen dargestellt. Ziel des Frauenberichts 2014 ist die Darstellung der Situation burgenländischer Frauen sowie die Dokumentation geschlechtsspezifischer Unterschiede in den Themenbereichen Bevölkerung, Bildung, Erwerbsarbeit, Kinderbetreuung, Einkommen, Gesundheit, Kunst & Kultur und Politik.521 149
